Traveling to Orcas Island, WA

Our wedding venue is located on Orcas Island, WA, about 3 ½  hours north of Seattle.

For most, getting there will involve a road trip north to Anacortes, WA, and a beautiful ferry ride through the San Juan Islands.

Driving From Seattle

  1. Drive to Anacortes

Drive north on I-5 towards the Anacortes Ferry Terminal. If possible, plan ahead to estimate the driving time based on traffic/time of day. Traffic moving north is busiest between 3-6pm.

Driving time: 1.5 - 3 hours

2. Board the Ferry

When you arrive at the Ferry Terminal, follow signs to line up for Orcas Island. The ride is about an hour long and will require a reservation for each vehicle.

Reservations open up 2 months before your sailing date at 7am Pacific. We recommend booking them as soon as possible. Additional spaces will become available 2 weeks prior and 2 days prior.

Plan to arrive at the terminal 45-60 minutes before your scheduled ferry departure (if you don’t check-in at least 30 minutes before departure, you may lose your reservation).

Once you’re on the ferry, head up to one of the passenger decks and enjoy the view! It’s a gorgeous ride!

3. Drive to Camp Moran

The hard part is over! Enjoy a leisurely drive along the winding hills of Orcas Island. We recommend downloading directions before you arrive on the island, as cell service can be spotty. The drive will take approximately 30 minutes from the Orcas Ferry Terminal.

Camp Moran address: 4600 Olga Rd, Olga, WA

Additional Travel Options

Walk on the Washington State Ferry

  • If you make it to Anacortes but don’t have a ferry reservation or would prefer not to bring your car to the island, boarding the ferry as a walk-on passenger requires no reservation.

  • Overnight Parking is available at the Anacortes Ferry Terminal, find their seasonally updated pricing list & reservation process here (scroll halfway down the page to the Parking section).

Take the Fast Ferry from Anacortes

  • Outer Island Expeditions offers a “fast ferry” once a day that docks at Rosario Resort, a 6 minute drive from the venue. The Fast Ferry is a great option for guests traveling to Orcas Island on Saturday, or guests who were not able to make a vehicle reservation on the Washington State Ferry.

  • Please Note: The fast ferry departs from 2201 Skyline Way, Anacortes, WA 98221 NOT the Anacortes Ferry Terminal.

Arrive in style via Seaplane

  • If long drives and ferry travel isn’t for you, Kenmore Air will fly you to Rosario Resort via seaplane, taking off from Lake Union in Seattle.

Shuttles

  • Orcas Island has no Ubers, Lyfts, or traditional taxi services. Instead, visitors relay on a few private taxi/shuttle services that require reservations.

  • As our event gets nearer, we will reach out to understand when and how our guests will be arriving, and we may arrange a shuttle service to pick guests up from key locations.
